CUA POST #2: SCI at CUA

So, what is SCI? SCI (Society of Composers, Inc.) is a national professional organization made up of composers, including teachers, students, freelancers, and anyone in between. Beyond the national level, there are 8 regions, and DC is in Region 3. At Catholic University of America, we have a newly-formed local student chapter that promotes the music and activities of its members (see next post, below).

Joining SCI is easy. We have no regional or local dues, only the national dues. Student memberships are normally $27.50/year, but, if you join the CUA local chapter, it's only $17.50/year. You can pay online or download a PDF to mail in.

The first order of business this year is electing our officers. We need a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Elections will be held this Friday after Composition Seminar, and our first weekly meeting will be immediately afterwards in Ward 211 for maybe 20 minutes. If you are interested in holding an officer position, joining SCI, and/or learning more about the events we're planning for the year, please plan to attend.
IMPORTANT: If you would like to nominate yourself or another person to be an officer, you can e-mail those nominations to me before Friday, or simply attend the meeting on Friday.
If you can't attend but want to be involved, please e-mail me this week, and we can look into meeting before Seminar or at a different time. Thanks!
